'Mahler’s Resurrection' draws one of the DSO’s most diverse audiences

Well over a thousand people filled the Dunedin Town Hall for 'Mahler’s Resurrection' DSO and NZSO Unite' — and one of the most encouraging insights from the audience data was the strong attendance from younger people, students and families.

Our recent performance with the NZSO of Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony - DSO and NZSO Unite' drew an audience of well over a thousand to the Dunedin Town Hall — including a remarkable number of young concertgoers and students.

Ticketing data supplied by Ticketek showed particularly strong engagement from younger audiences, with student tickets forming one of the largest ticket categories for the event. Families, school students, tertiary students and young musicians were strongly represented alongside the DSO’s loyal audience base.

Audience members travelled from across New Zealand to attend the performance, including visitors from Canterbury, Auckland and Wellington.

With a capacity audience - including 'The Gods' attendance, Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony became one of the DSO’s landmark concert events — demonstrating the continuing appetite for large-scale symphonic music in Ōtepoti Dunedin. Thank you for attending and supporting classical music!
